DAVID KATZ, 40-YEAR VETERAN BUILDER/DEVELOPER, LAUNCHES COMPANY

Real estate veteran, David Katz—has launched a building and development company--David Katz & Associates, LLC. In addition to its own developments, the firm will provide critical knowledge and consultation to condominium builders and developers.

The company will serve both established real estate developers and younger, start-up companies, bringing 40 years of condominium experience to their developments.  The company will lend its expertise in the following categories:  Planning & design layout from inception, land acquisition, zoning and land entitlement, sales & marketing, information on negotiation of all contracts with subcontractors, architects and engineers, design of unit layouts, pricing of units, project management, and preparation of all condominium documents. David’s background and reputation as one of the industry’s savviest and most successful developers will benefit his client companies in every facet of their real estate development. 

As former president of Bernard Katz & Associates, Inc., David, along with his former affiliates have built and developed more than 55 developments in over 30 communities from Chicago’s North Shore to the far western suburbs.  Over the past 40 years, David served as the driving force behind the success of most of those developments.  David joined the company in 1967 and ran the company for the last 20 years.

In June of 2007, David, his wife Gail and their daughter Melissa, lost their son and brother, Daniel Lee Katz, to an drug overdose. Following Daniel’s death, David and Gail founded the SAVE A STAR Drug Awareness Foundation, to educate parents and children to the risks and unpublished dangers of prescription drugs. The foundation has achieved enormous success in just a few short months, including partnering with the DEA Museum Foundation, in Washington D.C. Together, they will bring their drug awareness educational program to more than 10 million people in a cross-country mobile exhibition in 2008.
